Joseph joins Priests Society
Congratulations to Joseph Merrick Ballycooraun who has become the new Communications director of St Josephs Young Priests Society. Joseph is the society’s first ever holder of this office and will immediately launch a campaign to establish new branches. There is over 100,000 members in their 500 branches all over Ireland

Crossmolina 16’s Advance to Final
Crossmolina U16 team had comfortable win over Kiltane in the North Mayo U16 semi Final at St Tiernan’s Park. After leading at half time 1 - 9 to 0 - 3 having faced the strong breeze in the first half a goal 3 minuets into second half by Gerard Haran put the result beyond doubt. The final score 3 - 15 to         0 - 8 they now play Ballina in the Final

U12’s Win League
Crossmolina U12 team won the County Division 2 League title after drawing  away to Ballaghaderreen on Monday last. The sides were level at halftime 1 - 6 each. Ballaghaderreen were on top after the break and went into a six points lead in a very exciting finish. Gary Hopkins grabbed a goal and a point Nigal Caden and Jordan Flynn added points to tie the score 2 - 12 each to secure the title for a very good team performance throughout the League dropping just one point in the five games.

Crossmolina Minor Footballers are out of this years North Championship after drawing with Kiltane in Crossmolina last week 1 - 10 each.
It was back to Bangor for the replay on Thursday last after keenly contested game Kiltane emerged winners by 2 - 10 to 0 - 9 John Reilly was the winners scorer in chief with 8 points.

The death occurred on Thursday 30th July at Mayo General Hospital of Mary Irwin of Derryhillagh Castlehill Ballina. Mary is survived by her brother Peter, nieces, nephews, relations, friends and neighbours. May she Rest in Peace.


Noel Browne R I P
The death occurred recently in England of Noel Browne son of the late Paddy and Mary Browne formerly of Main St and Rosevale Crossmolina and Easkey Sligo. Burial will take place in Collooney on Saturday 15th August after 11am Mass. Noel is survived by his sisters Vivian, Kay, Barbara and Mary, brothers Milo and Padraig, his aunt Phil Concannon Ballina Rd Crossmolina, nieces, nephews, relations and friends. Sarah Gildea R I P
The death occurred on Thursday 23rd July in London of Sarah Gildea nee Jordan London and late of Ballymayock Castlehill Ballina. Her remains were removed from Ireland West Airport Knock on Tuesday evening last to Sweeney’s Funeral home Ballycroy. With removal on Wednesday morning to the Church of Holy Family Ballycroy for requiem mass burial took place in adjoining cemetery. Sarah wife of Don (London and Ballycroy) daughter of Tom and the late Bridie Jordan Ballymayock, sister of Michael, Carra Bonniconlon, Mary Smith Carrowgarve, Crossmolina, Tommy Ballymayock and the late Jack Australia, brothers - in - law, sisters - in - law, nieces, nephews, relations and friends. May she Rest in Peace.


Tom Jordan R I P
The death occurred on Thursday August 6th at Mayo General Hospital of Tom Jordan Islandmore Castlehill Ballina. His remains were removed on Saturday evening from Leonards Funeral Home to St Patricks Church Laherdane. Burial took place in Kilmurray Cemetery on Sunday after requiem Mass. Tom was pre-deceased by his wife Bridie is survived by his son’s Anthony Laherdane and John Scuillibeen Crossmolina, daughters, Mary Byrne Ballyvary and Margaret Fitzgerald Shrule, daughters - in - law, sons - in - law, grandchildren, brother Tony Knochanillow Ballina, sister Elizbeth Hickey Knockanillow, brothers - in - law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relations and friends. May he Rest in Peace.
