Crossmolina Tigers Basketball team won the county U-14 league title with 49 points to 33 win over Castlebar in An Sportlann last Sunday week. This success is a great boost for the game in the parish and for the coaches Margaret Howley, Meave Tierney, Paul Barrett who have put so much time and effort. The Tiger's panel and scorers were: Sarah Duffy 19, Jane Fox 9, Nicole Caden 13, Katie Meerick 2, Rachel Melvin 6, Emer Loftus, Marie Larkin, Carol Fairs, Marie O'Donnell, Kate Dolan, Caoimhe Walsh, Sarah Corcoran. Chronicle AGMThe annual general meeting of the Chronicle committee took place on Wednesday night, April 2 in the Enterprise Centre. The following officers were elected, Editor, Tommy Reidy, Chairperson, Nuala Corcoran McCartney, Secretary, John Hegarty, Treasurers Maureen Munnelly and Anthony Broderick. Committee: Anna Moffatt, Ann Clarke, Mary Granahan, Eamon O'Boyle and PJ Hughes. Kilmurry CardsResults of the game held in Kilmurry on April 3 were Best of 20, Sonny and Michael Callaghan, Paddy and Bernie Gilroy, Joe Clarke and Sean McGuinness, Kevin and Aiden Kearns, Tom and Gerry Carolan, Thomas and John Naughton, PJ and Breege McNamara, Phil Kenny and Damien Kearns. Raffle winners were Aiden Crowley, Sean Hopkins, and Pat Gillespie. Hamper winners were Breege McNamara and Tony O'Boyle, Bernie Gilroy and Paddy Joe McNamara. 25 Anniversary CelebrationsKillala GAA Club recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of their winning North Mayo Junior Championship 1983. On that team were Fr Michael Reilly and former Crossmolina goalkeeper Fr Michael Flynn. Guest of honour on the night was Dr Michael Loftus. Tidy TownsThe spring clean and general litter collection takes place on Saturday, April 19. Meet on the bridge at 10.30am and refreshments will be served afterwards. This is a very important date in our quest to do well in the Mayo Litter League which we have now joined and judging takes place at any time during the summer. Our very hard working volunteers are doing a great job but improvements can only be achieved by hour help and co-operation. So please come along and support our efforts. We are also entering the Tidy Towns competition this year. In the past we have lost points on litter, derelict buildings, unpainted walls as well as untidy gardens. Please take a look at your property and see how it can be improved and brighten up the town and its surroundings. Let us try and make Crossmolina a place to be proud of. Members please support. 25 Drive to Aid Kenyan VolunteersA 25 drive in aid of Donna Munnelly, Helen Queenan and Laura McGarrigle travelling to Kenya with African Impact Volunteer Programme will be held in Kilmurry Community Centre on Thursday, April 17, at 9.30pm. 1st prize €300, 2nd €200, 3rd €150. Spot prizes on the night. Tickets cost €10. Set DancingSet dancing takes place in Hineys Upper Deck every Tuesday night at 9pm with Mildred Byrne. Senior CitizensOn April 15 there will be an information evening on rights and entitlements in the Town Hall at 7.30pm. Community AlertA church gate collection is taking place this weekend, April 19 and 20 after all Masses in aid of Community Alert. Funds raised will help get this project up and running and help make Crossmolina a safer place to live. Your support will be greatly appreciated. U-16 LeagueCrossmolina U-16 footballers had a comfortable 4-18 to 2-9 win over Belmullet last Tuesday evening in Division 3 of the county league.
