Kilmurray Sports Results 


The following were the winners in the Annual Kilmurray sports and social centre raffle which was drawn on Bonfire night June 23.


1st prize €200 Jason Murphy Derryhillagh, Castlehill 

2nd prize €100 Susan Tiger, Creevy, Castlehill 

3rd prize €75 Mary Kelly, Abbeytown, Crossmolina 

4th prize €50 Conor Cahill, Croughwell, Co Galway 

5th prize €25 Maureen McCormack, Carrowcloughy, Crossmolina 

6th prize €25 Mark Dermody, Killocroaun, Castlehill 

7th prize €25 Paddy Gallagher, Errew, Castlehill.


The committee would like to thank everybody who bought tickets attended on the night and everybody who sold the tickets.

Their was no winner of the Crossmolina G A A club local lotto jackpot on Saturday night June 27th. 


The numbers were 1 - 10 - 12 - 32 


No punter matched three numbers and six tickets were drawn:

Girls win Basketball Title


Crossmolina U16 Girls won the County Community games title last week with a 47 pts to 30 win over Garrymore in Scoil Padraig Ballina. They now go forward to the Connacht semi-final in Galway Saturday 18th July.


The team and scorers were Fiona Hiney 14, Jane Fox 8, Nicloe Caden 16, Marie Larkin 3, Carol Fair 2, Marie O’Donnell 4. 


Their coaches are Margaret Howley, Meave Tierney and Paul Barrett.

U14 Footballers Win


Crossmolina U14 Boys had a good 5 - 7 to 3 - 5 win over Breaffy in St Tiernan’s Park on Thursday last in the County Championship Section C.


After leading by 1 - 5 to 1 - 1 at half time with the goal coming from Niall Valerio. Three goals in a five minute spell early into the second half from Keith Hopkins, Nicholas Gallagher and Fionan Duffy set the tone for the rest of the half. Breaffy came back with two goals late in the second half but Jack Hegarty grabbed another for the Deel-siders. John O’Brien in goal, was called on to make a couple of good saves in both halves to deny visitors certain goals.

Tony has Retired


We would like to Congratulate Mr Tony Tighe, Crossmolina National School on his retirement after 41 years service. Tony taught in St Tiernan’s Boys’ N.S from 1968 to 2001 and moved to the current location when the boys and girls schools amalgamated, he continued teaching there until his recent retirement. We wish him good health and enjoyment.

Double All Ireland Winners


Congratulations to Keenagh boys who won double All-Ireland Pioneer titles soccer and Gaelic finals in Hospital, Limerick last week-end, with the same panel of players Ronan Barrett, Mathew Carey, Jonathan Fergus, Nicholas Gallagher, David Lynn, Stephen and Kevin McHugh.

Reg Browne R I P


The death occurred on Wednesday July 1st after a short illness at University Hospital Galway of Reg Brown, 13 Lecarrow, Crossmolina. His remains were removed from his residence on Sunday morning for 11.30am Mass in St Tiernan’s Church with burial afterwards in Crossmolina cemetery. Reg is survived by his wife Frances, sons: Peter, Knoxsbarrett,  Ballina and Geoffrey, The Quay, Ballina, daughters: Paula McNulty, Erris St., Crossmolina and Suzanne Niland, Kiltmagh, sisters: Suzie Reeves, London and Margaret Johnson, Birmingham, grandchildren, sons - in - law, daughters - in- law, sisters - in - law, brothers - in - law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. May he rest in peace.
