There was no winner of the Crossmolina lotto jackpot on Saturday night, January 5.

The numbers drawn were 7, 12, 14, and 15. Lisa Lavelle, Letterbrick, Keenagh matched three numbers and won €150. The draw took place in Maughan's, Church St. This week's jackpot is €7,850. Many thanks for your continued suppport.

Gortnor Abbey Defeated

Gortnor Abbey Senior Ladies' Basketball team were defeated in the All-Ireland semi-final on Thursday last in Sligo by a very strong Kildare side, Rathangan. The final score 47 points to 26 did not do justice to the wonderful display by the Gortnor Abbey girls. Grace Howley was awarded the MVP.

Other members of the team were Sarah Melvin, Sharon Reidy, Kate Donohoe, Lorraine Keane, Sinead Kearns, Deirbhle Walshe, Ailbhe Harrison (capt), Mary Collins, Aoife Waters, Laura Judge and Hannah Gordon.

Late Julia Moran

The death has occurred on Tuesday January 1 of Julia Moran (nee Sweeney), Knockleggan, Crossmolina and Derreens, Achill. Her remains were removed from her residence on Thursday evening to Derreens Church.

Burial took place in Glenco cemetery on Friday after Requiem Mass. Julia is survived by her husband Frank, sons Francis and John, brothers Padraig and John USA, sisters Ann Gordon, Knockleggan, Mary USA, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relations and friends. May she rest in peace.

Died in New York

The death occurred on Sunday last, January 6, in New York of Patrick Gilroy, formerly of Erris St, Crossmolina. The funeral was on Wednesday last in New York. Patrick is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Bernie, sister Ena Coggins, Gortskeddia, Ann Murphy, Belfast, Mary Logue, New York, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren John, Rory and Sarah, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends in Crossmolina and New York. May he rest in peace.

Died in Dublin

The death ocurred suddenly recently in Dublin of Paddy Gibney, 10 Larkfield Gardens, Harolds Cross, and Mullenmore St, Crossmolina, and formerly of Ardee, Co Louth. Requiem Mass was celebrated in at Mount Argus Church and he was buried in Bothernebreena Cemetery. Paddy is survived by his wife Bea, daughters Marie, Patricia, Johanna, sons in-law Joe, Michael and Derek, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relations and friends. May he Rest in Peace.

Late Bridgie Gallagher

The death occurred on Saturday, January 5, at her residence of Bridgie Gallagher (nee Haran), 78 St Mary's Park, Crossmolina. Her remians were removed from Hiney's funeral home on Sunday evening to St Tiernan's Church. Burial took place in Crossmolina cemetery on Monday after Requiem Mass.

Bridgie was pre-deceased by her husband Josie, son Ambrose, daughter Josephine Murray is survived by her daughters Molly Timoney, Hartfordshire, Betty, St Mary's Park, Ann Hilliard, Middlesex, Eileen Taafe, Warford, Margaret Kelly, Lahardane, sons Sean, Camden, London, Enda, Abbeytown, brother Mickie Haran, Coolturk, sister Kathleen Medcaffe, Manchester, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, relations, neighbours and many friends. May she rest in peace.

The annual general meeting of Crossmolina GAA Club is on this Saturday, January 19, at 4pm in the clubrooms.

Bridge Results

The following are the results of the weekly Crossmolina Bridge Game: 1st, John and Breeda Mulkearns; 2nd, Maureen Barrett and Nuala Doyle; 3rd, Mary Garrett and Teresa McNulty. The game is on every Thursday night in Hiney's. New members always welcome.

Car Boot Sale

Killala Community Playgroup will be holding a Car Boot Sale on Sunday, January 20, in Killala Community Centre. It will commence at 9am until 2pm and there will be indoor and outdoor pitches available. For further information, call 096-32339.
