Gaisce Awards CeremonyAt a presentation evening in Breaffy House Hotel on Tuesday evening last six students from St Tiernans College were delighted to receive their Bronze awards. The students Grainne Donnelly Carrowkilleen Eoghan Gibbons Lahardane Stephen McHugh Coolnabinna, Aisling Moyles Garanard, Aoife Munnelly Moyygownagh and Kellie White Church View Crossmolina received many plaudits for their efforts throughout the year. This involved engaging in a “partnership through sport Programme with the residents of Western Care in Clunin day centre, Foroige projects, St Vincent de Paul youth for justice programme, sporting activities, 25 Mile hillwalk and overnight camping out at the Achill adventure centre and learned the skills of sign language for the deaf. These endeavours were mentioned as being most praiseworthy. The participants in the programme were praised for their contribution to their communities and encouraged to continue their community involvement and consider going on to achieve the higher accolade of the silver in the future. Dying Wish FulfilledOn Saturday April 25th a very moving ceremony took place on the shores of Lough Conn which the Rev Neal O'Raw officiated at when the late Mr Tom Hardman from Headford England dying wish was fulfilled with scattering of his ashes on Tolan's Bay. Tom's wife Thelma, five daughters and son's -in - law, grandson and friends travelled to Crossmolina for the scattering of his ashes. Tom Rip came to fish on Lough Conn over fifty years ago and stayed in local Bed and Breakfast's only missed a hand full of years he did not make the trip in all those years. The family want to thank the Rev Neal for the lovely service the boatmen Dave Lenehan, Pat Cowman,and Padraic Traynor for all their help also the Band B's Fr Seamus OrdinationFr Seamus Rowland Eskeragh Bellacorick was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Tyler Texas on Saturday last. Fr Seamus many friends and neighbours wish to extend their best wishes and assure him that he is very much in their thoughts and prayers over the weekend . Their will be a special mass of thanksgiving in St Tiernans Church on Sunday June 14th at 6pm followed by refreshments and entertainment in Hiney's all are welcome. |
