The Crossmolina Tidy Towns Committee had a very successful evening at the Mayo County Council Litter Action League Awards on Tuesday night 9th Dec at the Park Hotel, Kiltimagh sweeping the board with 4 Awards. 1st Place in Group A Litter Action League. 2nd Place in Cleaner

Michael Naughton RIP

The death occurred on Saturday December 27th at The Sacred Heart home Castlebar of Michael (Mick) Naughton Doonaroya Boughadoon Ballina. His remains were removed on Sunday evening from Leonards funeral home Lahardane to St Patricks Church Lahardane. Burial took place in Kilmurray cemetery on Monday after requiem mass.

Conor Win's National Title

Congratulations to Conor Gray Church View who was the winner of the Write on Limerick competition for 5th and 6th class category national schools . The competition was run in the Irish Independent with hundreds of entries from all over Ireland which made it all the more note worthy . Conor won a Cannon digital camera and book vouchers from Dubary books worth €150 for Crossmolina Njational School . This was Conor's winning Limerick.

Crossmolina Drama Group staged their play 'Far Off Hills' on Wednesday night last for charity and what a wonderful success it was, with another full house which contributed €3,300 with Self Help Africa Appeal and Mayo Autism Action each receiving cheques for €1,650.

Trip to Germany

A group of 15 students and two teachers, Ms Casey and Ms Fallon, are going on a trip to the town of Bad Salzig near Koln in Germany during the Easter break. An action-packed itinerary is planned. Students will be involved in intensive language classes but they will also get the opportunity to get to know the area.

Crossmolina Woman Dies in England

The death has occurred in Leamington Spa, England, of Ena Rellis (nee Caden- Gilroy), a native of Crossmolina. Ms Rellis died on January 28th last. Ena and her husband, Michael, left Crossmolina with their seven children in 1960 and resettled in Leamingon Spa, England. Michael died in 1974 and, in 1982, Ena remarried Sean Rellis, a native of Dublin. Ena and Sean visited Crossmolina on many occasions and she also kept in close contact with the area.

PJ Scoops the Jackpot

Mary McGuinness is Mourned

The death occurred on Tuesday, January 22 at her residence of Mary McGuinness (nee Ruane), Gortnahurra, Crossmolina. Her remains were removed from her residence on Wednesday evening to St. Tiernan's Church. Burial took place in Crossmolina Cemetery on Thursday after Requiem Mass. Mary was predeceased by her husband Mickie, and is survived by her sons John and Gerry, Gortnahurra, Michael Derby, daughters in law, sisters Aggie, Ballina, Dolores, Pauline, Veronica, Teenie, Bridie, Bernadette and Teresa in Kent, brother Sean, England, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, relations and friends. May she rest in peace.

Crossmolina students excel at Gaisce Awards

It was all about creating a real and practical difference in the community for Bronze Award recipients from Saint Tiernan's College Crossmolina this year. Most of the students became involved with a project in conjunction with Western Care, when they measured the speed of traffic and the amount of traffic going through the town with a view to establishing a safe crossing for those with a learning disability.
