There was no winner of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night 30th June. The numbers were 3 – 10 – 21 – 28 two punter match three numbers Anne and Vincent O’Malley Keenagh Ballina and Marian Howley Glencreevy Crossmolina. They each win €75 The draw took place in Hiney’s Bar. This weeks Jackpot is €10,200. Many thanks for all your support 

 

Keenagh Festival 

All roads lead to Keenagh on the weekend of July 13th to 15th as the local Community celebrate the. Centenary of the Church of the Holy Souls Celebrations commence with Opening Ceremony in the Church at 8pm on Friday evening followed by Music and Dancing with The Bumble Bee and local musicians in the Marquee and a display from Atlantic Rhythm. At 2 pm Saturday its Family Day with Novelty sports, bouncy castle and heritage events At 7 pm we remember the dearly departed from our area at the annual cemetery mass in Kilmurray. The night rounds off with BBQ and dancing to Medicine Bow in the Marquee at Keenagh School. At noon on Sunday there is the Christy Murphy commerative walk around Drumleen Lake. The highlight of the weekend is the Centenary Mass concelebrated with Bishop Fleming and Clergy at 3 pm with the Centenary Dance held on the Sunday night in O'Malleys Crossmolina with Music by Irish Eyes 

 

U16 E Championship

Crossmolina staged a remarkable recovery in the second half of this county U16 E championship at a sunny Achill on Tuesday of last week after being in arrears at the break by 5-5 to 0-4. The Deel-Siders tore into the home side and came out on top in the end by six points 7-10 to 5-10

Ballintubber emerged winner of this County Junior football Championship round three tie at a sunny at Park on Sunday week. It took Crossmolina 21minuets to register their first score a Liam Donohoe goal. Ballintubber came straight down the field and grabbed two goals in a four minuets spell from Noel Geraghty and James McGing to go in leading at the break 2-3 to 1-1 Crossmolina came more into the game after the break with points from Nigal Caden Darragh Gill Gerard Haran and J.P.Mulhern but the winner also tacked on points from Ray and Noel Geraghty John Duffy and Stephen Broderick to run out comfortable winners in the end

Western Care Thank You.

The recent coffee morning on the 15th June in aid of Western Care Residential Services made a total of €1,139.28 Thank you to all that generously donated, a big thank you to all that baked for this event and to who helped out. New Facility At Crossmolina PO.

Crossmolina Post Office are pleased to announce we are getting a new facility whereby customers will be able to download and print state application forms at our office. This is a pilot scheme and there are only 10 0ffices within Ireland getting this service on trial. We are delighted to announce we are the only office to offer this service in Mayo and the official national launch will take place from our office by representatives from An Post and the government. We expect this launch to happen in the coming week and endeavour to keep you all informed of the launch when date is finalised 

 

Scoil Neifinn Bus Service

Notice to parents of national school going children. There is a bus service to Scoil Néifinn National School, Keenagh which leaves Crossmolina at 8.40am and returns at 3.30pm.Enrolment: Names are being accepted for September 2018.

Kilmurry Youths are hosting the Sports Direct FAI Summer Soccer School in Kilmurry Community Field from Monday July 2nd to Friday July 6th .The camp is open to boys and girls from 6 to 14 years of age . National Schools Final 

Two goals in the opening ten minuets from Lenny Gilbert and James Ivers was not the start the Crossmolina National School wanted against Belmullet in this north B Final in Cill Chomain Last Friday week. Crossmolina came back with a Oisin Deane Point and Dylan Flynn grabbed a goal and Nathan Lynch a point before  Anthony Barrett and  Conor Walsh tacked on points to leave the half time score 2-2 to 1-2 Anthony Barrett quickly increased the lead with a point. Crossmolina were very much on top in this period James O’Boyle drove over a point Kobe McDonald added another before Belmullets Charles McDonagh struck a vital goal for his side Crossmolina kept up the pressure but their tendency to go for goals when points were their for the taking and the Belmullet’s defence kept the goal intact until late in the game when Dylan Flynn weaved his way past a couple of defenders to plant the ball in the net, but it was too little too late and the Erris Boys hung on for a two points win 3-3 to 2-4

This bottom of the table clash at Fr O’Hara Park which was played in blistering heat of 24c was dominated by Chareltown in the opening half  Colm Maye opened the scoring with a point which Fionan Duffy Cancelled out then  Paul Towey after 5 minuets grabbed his sides first which was quickly followed by a Patrick Goldrick point Conor Loftus pointed from play David Caffrey came from deep pop over a point the rest of the scoring was confined to the last eight  minuets  Patrick Goldrick was put clean through on goal and made no mistake Colm Maye added on two points and Cathal Carolan pulled two back before the break to leave the half time score 2 – 6 to 0 -4 in favour of the east mayo side Crossmolina came out fighting for their survival in division 1 with two points from Cathal Carolan and Mike Gallagher Com Maye pointed a free Fionan Duffy  tacked on two points and J.P.Mulhern  one  Crossmolina who rallied to the end  and a string of points from Fionan Duffy Conor Loftus Cathal Carolan Stephen Duffy and Fionan Duffy kept the pressure on Charletown who had squeezed in points each from Paul and Damien Ward in between those scores  to secure two vital points for their side. Cash for Clobber at Ballina Family Resource Centre

Dementia Dance Club

The late Billy Cooke

The death occurred peacefully on Tuesday 26th June at River View Nursing Home Ballina of  William H. Cooke better known as Billy), in his 81st year Fortland House, Crossmolina. His remains reposed at Hineys Funeral Home on Thursday evening with removal to St Marys church with service on Friday and burial afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery. Billy is survived by his wife Viola, daughters Sharon, Stephanie, Suzanne, Vivienne, Gillian, son Alastair. Loving grandad to Max, Adam, Sam, Kyla, Nathan, Jess, Andrea, Danielle, Alex and Sophia. Deeply regretted by his loving daughter- in-law Deirdre, sons-in-law David, Stephen, Neil and Sharon's partner Tom sister Iris, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace

The Rare Tulip 

All of ten tulips are all set to strut their stuff on stage at the Rare Tulip alternative beauty & talent contest in Hiney's Upper Deck next Saturday night. This event is a fundraiser for the upcoming Homecoming Festival. All of the tulips are looking a bit withered due to the recent heatwave but are set to be in full bloom this Saturday night, the tulips for 2018 are Declan Sweeney, Kieran Gill, Ian Gordon, Kenneth McHugh, Sean Carolan, Anthony Leonard, Stephen McHugh, Eamon Clifford, Anthony Walsh & Darren Caden. 

 

Homecoming Festival 

Tickets for the Marc Roberts concert are now available again in Hiney's, Centra & Mulhern's Gala. There are some places available at the Sand Art Magic Workshop but this event needs advance booking, there is no admission. You can catch up on some of the Fiver Friday offers on the festival facebook page this week, don't forget, Friday July 20th is the day to Shop Local. Congratulations to Thérese Ni Laimhin from Foxford who was the winner of the Singing Pubs heat in Stick's and is through to the Grand Final on July 22nd. Tiernan's Triumph 

The Second Year girls from St. Tiernan’s College recently capped off a very successful season when they were crowned Connaught Regional Champions. Despite entering the competition with the smallest panel the girls gelled so well as a team that they went through the entire season unbeaten. Tiernans fast breaking game saw them put up big scores in their earlier rounds, the highlights of which were wins over Our Lady’s Secondary school Belmullet, St Joseph’s Secondary School, Foxford and Sacred Heart Westport. 

However it was the team's defensive organisation that saw the Tiernan's girls win a tight final 25 - 19 against St. Raphael's College, Loughrea in Ballina Community Sports Centre recently in a game in which Leah Timlin was the star player on show. 

A delighted captain, Rachel Moyles accepted the regional cup on behalf of her team. The coaching team of Ms.Munnelly, Ms. Caden and Mr. Hendry praised the girls for their effort throughout the season and commented on how proud they were of the team.

Jordan Win’s Connacht Medal.

Congratulation to Jordan Flynn who was at Mid-field on the Mayo U20 Team that captured the first playing of this competition with a comfortable 3 – 16 to 1- 6 win over Roscommon in Hyde Park. Mayo now go forward to the All-Ireland Semi-Final against the Ulster Champions Derry or Armagh

Crossmolina and Ballaghaderreen served up a highly entertaining game in this County U14 B Championship tie at a very wet miserable breezy evening at Tiernans Park but this did not stop either sides scoring which Crossmolina emerged winner clear winner by 4-18 to 5-3

This was a very entertaining contest Crossmolina lead at the break 1-5 to 0-3 after playing with stiff breeze thanks to Dylan Flynn goal and a point Oisin Deane two points and points each from Kyle Gallagher and Kobe McDonald. James Carey replied with two points and Rafielle one point for the home side. Josh Carey and James Armstrong traded points with Dylan Flynn and Kobe McDonald. As the game entered the last five minuets James Armstrong grabbed a goal which insured a nail biting finish the Crossmolina defence were solid throughout and goalkeeper Jack Sharkey made a couple of great saves during game to secure their sides march into the final

Ten tulips have been hand picked and are ready to take to the stage on Sat. July 7th in the Upper Deck for the Rare Tulip alternative beauty & talent contest to see who will be selected as the rarest of them all. Thank you to everyone that attended the special family mass and festival launch and to the hard working people who spent so much time beautifully decorating the church. The final Singing Pubs heat takes place in Christy's Bar on next Friday night, June 29th, music by Michael S. Togher, call 087 2225256 if your interested in taking part. The Summer brochure is now available in all shops etc. Some of the free events for the festival are almost booked up, please register for any event that requires advance booking. Killocraun NS.

On Sat June 30th at 1pm Bishop John Fleming will celebrate mass in Killocraun NS to mark 120 years of the school.

Following mass a day of fun events for all is guaranteed. There will be music and drama by current and past pupils. Registers, roll books and photos will be on display and refreshments will be served on the day. 

Later that evening in Cawley’s of Rakestreet music will be provided by the Sweeney Macs. Past pupils and teachers, neighbours and friends are all invited to celebrate this special day. We are looking forward to meeting you all on the 30th

This was a game Crossmolina dominated for three quarters of the contest before Ballinrobe struck a purple patch in the fourth quarter scoring four goals to take the lead. It then the hosts showed great resilience and will to win with Oisin Deane Luke Maloney Kobe McDonald Dylan Flynn and Ronan Connor all contributed to score board in frantic finish which ended with Crossmolina winning by two points 6-16 to 7-11

Kilmurray Soccer Camp

Kilmurry Youths are hosting the Sports Direct FAI Summer Soccer School in Kilmurry Community Field from Monday July 2nd to Friday July 6th .The camp is open to boys and girls from 6 to 14 years of age . The festival will hold a fund raising event on Sat. Crossmolina 2-17 Moy Davitts 1-12

Crossmolina had a comfortable win over Moy Davitts in this Michael Walsh Cup tie at Tiernans Park on Sunday of last week. Crossmolina dominated the opening quarter with points from J.P.Mulhern Kevin Mulhern and a goal and point from Mickie Loftus before Oisin McHugh pointed for the visitors in the 15 minuet Brian Heneghan slotted home a penalty minutes later J.P.Mulhern Fionan Duffy tacked on string points and just before the break Brian Heneghan reduced the lead with three points to leave the half time score 1-9 to 1-4 Fionan Duffy and Liam Byrne exchanged points Mark Regan and J.P.Byrne raised white flags before Conor Rowland grabbed his sides second goal to restore his sides dominance  Liam Byrne Mark Regan and J.P. Byrne pointed for Moy Davitts. A further burst of scoring from Fionan Duffy Mickie Loftus David Howley Kevin Mulhern J.P Mulhern and Liam Donohoe gave the hosts a commanding lead before Brian Heneghan and Liam Byrne tacked on points for the Moy siders

Killocraun NS.

On Sat June 30th at 1pm Bishop John Fleming will celebrate mass in Killocraun NS to mark 120 years of the school.

Following mass a day of fun events for all is guaranteed. There will be music and drama by current and past pupils. Registers, roll books and photos will be on display and refreshments will be served on the day. 

Later that evening in Cawley’s of Rakestreet music will be provided by the Sweeney Macs. Past pupils and teachers, neighbours and friends are all invited to celebrate this special day. We are looking forward to meeting you all on the 30th
