U15 League 

Ardnaree dominated this County U15 League for the best part of the game with a early goal from Paul Flood and a string of points from Sean Murphy Thomas Greham Christan McNeac  but visitors Crossmolina fought back before the break with goals  from Diarmuid Walsh and Conor Reynolds  and Walsh also added a point to leave the half time score 1- 8 to 2 – 1 Crossmolina did fight back with two goals from Niall Coggins  after Ardnaree  upped  the scoring after the break  some fine long range points added two further goals  which saw them run out convincing winners by 3 – 15 to 4 – 5

McHale/Rovers Win Title

McHale/Rovers grabbed a dramatic late winning goal from Niamh Maughan to secure their County U16B title at St Tiernans Park on Saturday week. After opening the scoring with a point from Dara Moore McHale/Rovers were rocked back on their heels with a three goal burst from Orla Kelleher  Sarah Hyland and Rachel Walsh and point from Emma Walsh  with the hosts only reply was a point from Lisa Lavelle  to Parke Keelogues Crimlin into a commanding 3 – 1 to 0 – 2 after fifteen minuets McHale /Rovers were very wasteful in this first Quarter shooting wide when scorers were their for the taking but when they found their shooting boots Emily Murray Miamh Maughan Lisa Lavelle Sinead Walsh ratted off six points to leave just two separating the sides at the break without reply from the visitors. This was quickly changed with points each from Laura Walsh and Ava Jayne McLoughlin in the opening seven minuets of the new half McHale Rovers settled down with points each from Sinead Walsh and Niamh Maughan sixteen minuets on the clock the hosts were given a life line when Emily Murray was upended in the square Lisa Lavelle was in trusted with penalty Parke K,C Keeper Cathriona Mallon saved but Lisa drove home the rebound with both sides striving for the winning scores their was a eight minuets without a score then Lisa Lavelle gave her side the lead and minuets later Saoirse Timothy tied the score and Ciara Kelleher and Lisa Lavelle exchanges points before that dramatic late burst of scoring that gave McHale/Rovers the title in a nail biting six minuets of injury time  final score McHale/Rovers 2 – 12 Parke/Keelogues/ Crimlin 3 – 6

Died in Cardiff

The death occurred recently in Cardiff of Una Moyles nee McDonnell formerly of Rathkell Castlehill wife of Michael formerly of Shraugh Castlehill funeral took place in Cardiff. Una is survived by her husband Michael, daughters Mary and Michelle, sons – in – law grandchildren relation extended family friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace

 

Crossmolina Area Meeting

A meeting will be held in the Parish Hall, Crossmolina on Tuesday 17th October at 8pm. The objective is to discuss the formation of a committee aimed at developing a community based, not for profit range of care services. The service would provide independent / sheltered / assisted living facilities within the Crossmolina area, in order to cater for the needs of our community. Those wishing to have an input into furthering this idea and joining an active working committee are invited to attend

 

The Late Geraldine Dunleavy 

The death occurred suddenly and peacefully on Thursday 5th October of Geraldine Dunleavy 21 Abbeytown Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Saturday evening with removal to St Tiernans Church  burial on Sunday in Crossmolina Cemetery after requiem Mass. Geraldine is survived by her daughter Stephanie, mother Ena, sister, Mary. brothers Anthony and Benny, aunt Maggie, uncle Vin, son – in – law Ruaidhri, sister – in – law Sinead, Anne and Martina, brother – in – law Eelco, nieces, nephews, relations and friends. Geraldine was predeceased by her father Michael, brothers Noel, Patrick and Martin. May she rest in peace

Free ‘Getting Citizens Online’ course

Irish Rural Link are running a free computer course called ‘Getting Citizens Online’ in the Crossmolina area. It is designed for beginners to help you feel comfortable using a computer.  It is an introduction to the Internet, shopping online, email, basic Microsoft Word processing, Skype and other useful government online services. Free IT Skills course for Farmers   

Irish Rural Link are offering a free computer course for farmers in the Crossmolina area with the overall aim to get farmers online in advance of the new regulations by the Department of Agriculture.

The course will cover topics such as: Farmer registration; Calf and Herd registration; the Agfood website; Computer literacy; Internet search; Setting up email; and Online banking.                        

The course runs for two hours a week over five weeks  in the Crossmolina Enterprise centre. To book a place please contact 0860897789
