Died in England
The death occurred recently in Middlesex of Kitty Flecher nee Loftus formerly of Rathduff House Crossmolina. Burial took place in Middlesex Kitty is survived by her husband Ken, sisters Teresa Green Weeping Cross Staafordshire, Maggie.Ellen Loftus Acton London, Patricia Green California, sister – in – law, nephews P.J.Loftus Rathduff Hse, Emmett Loftus Abbeytown Crossmolina, and Kevin Loftus San Francisco, nieces, nephews, extended family relatives and friends may she rest in peace.


John S (Sylvie) Mulhern R I P
The death occurred suddenly at his residence on Monday 30th January of John S (Sylvie) Mulhern Ballina Rd. His remains were removed from Hineys Funeral Home on Wednesday evening to St Tiernans Church with burial on Thursday in Ceossmolina cemetery after requiem mass. Sylvie is survived by his wife Bridgie, daughters Mary Commons Dublin, Ann Reilly Bangor Erris, Helen Rafferty New York, Catherine Connolly Ballina, Sylvie Jones Dublin,Sons Richard Australia, Kieran Knockagarravaun Crossmolina, James Garrymore, Eamon Knockglass, sons – in – law, daughters – in – law, brother Michael Ballina rd Crossmolina nephew, nieces, extended family, relatives friends and neighbours  Sylvie was a builder by trade he and his brother Michael set up their Company Mulhern Builders in early 50s and were known all over the west having built many church’s  Schools and many government buildings all over the west. Sylvie was outstanding footballer in 1947 he won a Connacht minor medal with mayo two years later he was on first Crossmolina Deel-Rovers team that won the  Mayo senior Championship. 1955 he was on the Junior team that won the County title. 1962 he was a member of the Crossmolina Rugby team that defeated Galwegians in the Connacht Junior Cup In the Year 2000  Sylvie was the recipient of the Crossmolina GA A clubs Hall of Fame award which he appreciated very much. It was a testimonial of the high regard their was for him with the hughe crowds that attended his removal from Hineys Funeral home and funeral mass and burial  on Thursday may he rest in peace      

St Tiernan's Cemetery
A meeting of St Tiernan's Cemetery Committee will be held on Tuesday 7th February at 8pm in the Enterprise Centre. All committee members and persons interested in the further development/upkeep and maintenance of the cemetery please attend. Your help and support would be greatly appreciated. On Mayo Vocational Team
Congratulations to Crossmolina students Jason Murphy Derryhilagh, Padraic Holmes Knockmore, Noel McLoughlin Ballina and Kevin McHugh Coolnabinna who were members of the Mayo team that won the Connacht Vocational  title with a one point win over Leitrin 0 – 7 to 0 – 6 in Bekan last week. They now play Kildare in the All-Ireland Semi-Final with date and venue to be decided.

Sarah Wins at Kilbride
Congratulations to Sarah Syron Knockleggan who won the inaugural Kilbride 10k lady’s title in a time of 40.56 nine seconds faster than her nearest rival Sarah smashed her 2011 Balla 10k  personal best by over two minuets

 
Bord Na Nog Awards
The annual Crossmolina Bord Na Nog Awards and Table Quiz for Boys and Girls in Hineys on Friday night of last week attracted a very large attendance  with special Guest Michael Moyles Senior team manager the following were the award winners in the Boys section. U10 Conor Caden Derryhillagh,  U11 Lorcan Loftus St Marys Park, U12 Ronan Lavelle Knockanbaun, National Schools Gary Hopkins Eskeragh, U13 Keith Gilroy Tubridge, U14 Kieran Haran Coolturk, U15 Darragh McCormack Carrowcloughy, U16 Conor Loftus Knockleggan, U18 Aidan Kearns Carrowkilleen. The Girls awards went to U 10 Lisa Lavelle Knockanbaun  U12 Emily Gordan  Lowvally, Joann Naughton Laherdane Marie Larkin Enniscoe Carmel Mulhern  Laherdane. The Table Quiz winners were Kevin Keane Carrowcloughy, Nigal Caden Derryhillagh, Eoin McDonnell Ballyvicmaha and Darragh McCormack Carrowcloughy. The runners up were Craig Hefferon Creevy, Rachel Kearns Carrowkeel, Samantha McDonnell Ballyvicmaha and Darren Caden Derryhillagh special thanks to the quiz master John McLoughlin.
