The exact location of an ATM machine when it is moved from the vacant Bank of Ireland building in Bridge Street and the future role that a credit union would have in town is also being pursued.
A message of thanks was received from Blood Donation Clinic for the 154 points of blood donated from local people when the service was in town on May 11th for a five hour visit. A return clinic is planned for September 29th. The cutting of the grass verges around town is in full swing and the recent purchase of a new lawn-mower is very beneficial. Decision on art object by September. Dr Loftus paid tribute to the Tidy Town’s committee for their endeavours in making Crossmolina a better, brighter and nice place to live in.
Congratulations were extended to newly qualified medical doctor, Dr Joseph Loftus, Mullinmore, on his success and a good luck message to all second level students about to being their exams.
The meeting concluded with a message of sympathy being extended to families in the parish who were recently bereaved with a special mention made of TC Bourke on the sudden death of her sister. TC has worked tirelessly with the Social Services Centre in Chapel Street for many years, along with Roisin Mullen, organising meals on wheels and other events that brightens the lives of many in our parish. Her work is greatly appreciated.
Mayo Concert Orchestra to perform in Crossmolina parish hall
The Mayo Concert Orchestra will deliver an ‘Evening of Music’ in Crossmolina parish hall on Saturday, June 17th at 9pm. The performance is part of the Crossmolina Community Festival and is kindly supported by the Crossmolina Chronicle.
For the last six weeks national school children from the locality have been engaging in a music program provided by the Orchestra and the Mayo Youth Orchestra will perform a special concert for the children on the same date from 5pm - 7pm .
This is a really unique event for Crossmolina and will be a great occasion for anyone who has an interest in music.
Tickets for the Evening performance are priced at 10 and can be booked in advance via the Crossmolina Community Festival Booking line 086 226 8924.
The National Schools performance is complimentary.
ALL IRELAND MEDAL
Ronan Rochford, St. Patricks Ave was a member of the UCG team that defeated UUJ in the All Ireland Freshers final in Garrison, Co Fermanagh last Wednesday by 1-17 to 1-14 after extra time. Other Mayomen on the team were Mark Ronaldson, Ger Cafferkey, John Healy, Neil Mayock, Dara Hughes and Chris Barrett.
IN COUNTY FINAL
Keenagh NS have qualified for the final of Cumann na mBunscol after defeating Facefield, Claremorris in the semi final by 8-11 to 3-4. The panel is as follows; Mark Lynn, Kevin Mchugh, Jonathan Fergus, Kevin Garvin, Patrick Gilroy, Matthew Carey, Nicholas Gallagher, Thomas Naughton, Kenneth Granaghan. Coach Cartha Byrne. This final will be held on June 10 in Castlebar. Come along and enjoy a feast of football.
JOBS' CLUB
FAS funded Jobs Club will run from today Tuesday, June 6th until Friday, June 23rd in the Enterprise Centre, Mullinmore Street, hours 10am to 1.30 five days per week. It is for anyone who is unemployed. The aim of the Jobs club is to enable its members to plan, actively seek and achieve realistic work opportunities. It specifically provides guidance in the following areas; CV Preparation, Interview Skills and Job Researching.
Each member has the use of all of its facilities for a period of three weeks. Payment of E20 weekly to cover food/travel expenses. This payment will not affect any other benefits you may receive. Contact Kathryn at 094 9256745 or Stella at 096-30935.

There was no winner of the Crossmolina GAA lotto jackpot on Saturday night, May 27. The numbers drawn were 5, 8, 18, and 20. No punter matched three numbers either. ON SLIGO TEAM
David Kelly, the St. Attractas Tubbercurry student who was on the team that won the All Ireland colleges senior B title a few weeks ago, made his first championship appearance for Sligo against Galway in Salthill recently. He is son of Michael, the former Cross-molina Deel Rovers player, and manager of the Bank of Ireland, who lived in Chapel Road. They now live in Tubbercurry.
DIED IN CARLOW
The death occurred on Thursday, May 25 of Ada Munnelly nee Foley, 82 Laburnum Drive, Rathnapish, Carlow, and her burial took place in Carlow. Ada is survived by her family Peadar, Dave, Catherine, Tom, Paddy, and Ger, son in law, daughters in law, sister in law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. Ada’s late husband Daviid (Daithi) Munnelly lived in Tooreen before moving to Carlow in 1963 with his family. He played in goal for the Crossmolina team that won the first county senior title in 1949. the Munnellys have many relations and friends in the parish of Crossmolina, the Cawleys, Tooreen and Rakestreet. Deepest sympathy to the family on the death of Ada.
DRAW WINNERS

LATE MICHAEL GALLAGHER
The death occurred on Friday, May 26 of Michael Gallagher, Derra, Bellacorrick, at the District Hospital, Ballina. His remains were removed from Hiney's Funeral home on Sunday evening to the Church of Holy Souls, Keenagh. Burial took place in Crossmolina Cemetery on Monday after Requiem Mass. Michael is survived by his wife Ann, sons Shane, Keith, and Nicholas, brothers Tommy, Castlebar, Anthony, Dublin, sisters Mary, Dublin, Nora Beattie, Ballina, Julia, Ballina, Breege Flynn, Ballina, Patricia Garvey, Crossmolina, aunts Julia Kilker, Glen-castle, Mary Kate Garvin, Mullingar, Bridgie Holmes, Derra, uncles Tom Carolan, Uggool, Pat Carolan, Bangor, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, and a large circle of relations and friends. May he rest in peace.
