Music in Kenagh

A social evening of music and song with John Hoban, well known local musician, singer and songwriter who has experience of teaching and working with community groups worldwide.

John who believes its never too late to learn music, will give a talk and music demonstration and invite audience participation. Feel free to bring your musical instruments. All ages are welcome.
The event takes place tonight, Tuesday at 9pm. Tea will be served and cover charge is €4. The night is sponsored by County Mayo VEC and the Arts Office, Mayo County Council.

LOTTO RESULTS
There was no winner of the Crossmolina GAA lotto jackpot on Saturday night, September 9. The numbers drawn were 2, 3, 8 and 32. LADIES’ FOOTBALL
Crossmolina continued their good form of luck in the Mayo Ladies Minor championship at Bofeenaun on Tuesday last. Crossmolina dominated the first half and lead at half time by 4-8 to 0-4. Castlebar came more into it in the second half and two late goals gave the score board a more respectable look. The final score was Crossmolina 6-10 to Castle-bar 2-8. DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Moy Valley Rural Development 2007-2013 public meeting on Wednesday night, September 20, at 8.30pm in the Enterprise Centre (upstairs). Views on needs and development in the community welcome.

ALL-IRELAND TITLES
Five teams from Cross-molina won All-Ireland titles at the PTAA finals in Tubbercurry on Saturday week last. The U-12 girls won basketball and Gaelic football with the same panel of Sarah Duffy, Jane Fox, Nicole Caden, Eimear Loftus, Carole Fair, Marie Lack-en and Rachel Melvin. The Over 15 ladies won the basketball; Sarah Syron, Maeve Tierney, Margaret Howley, Ailish Mangan, Grace Howley, Sarah O’Malley, and Claire Greham. The Over 15 ladies won the Gaelic football; Lisa Maughan, Christine Lynn, Ann Marie Haran, Clare Greham, Una Mayock, Grace Howley and Lisa McNamara. The Over 15 boys basketball were also victorious with Stephen Duffy, Joe Keane, Joe Melvin, Damien McGarrigle, Enda Jordan, James Cafferty and Gerard Caden. The same panel with the only change Noel Tier-ney coming in for Damien McGarrigle were defeated in the Gaelic final. Congratulations to all concerned especially to their coaches, Maeve Tierney, Margaret Howley, Patsy Duffy, Michael Jordan, Ciaran Loftus, Michael Lynn, and Peadar Flynn. Special thanks to all who organised bonfires and greeted the teams on their way home.

COOKING DEMONSTRATION
A cookery demonstration hosted by local chef Michael Mullen of Designer School of Cooking will be held in the Dolphin Hotel, Cross-molina, at 9pm on Wednesday, September 27. Admission is •5, so come along and sample some delights. For further information please call 085-7337633.

LATE MARGARET LYNN
The death occurred at Mayo General Hospital on Wednesday, September 13 of Margaret (Gretta) Lynn, The Boreen, Crossmolina. Her remains were removed from Hiney's Funeral Home on Thursday evening to St Tiernan's Church. Burial took place in Cross-molina cemetery on Friday after Requiem Mass. Margaret is survived by her brothers Mick, London; Johnny, The Boreen Crossmolina; Tommy, London; sisters Bridie Cartwright, Knockleggan, Crossmolina; Josephine Varvell, Oxford-shire; Deanie Lynn, Epson, Surry, England; sisters-inlaw, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relations and friends. May she rest in peace.

BRIDGE RESUMES
The weekly Crossmolina Bridge game is back for another season on this Thursday night, September 21 in Hineys. The game starts at 8pm.

WHIST DRIVE
Results of the game played on September 7th; Top Score, Bridie Cawley, 1st Lady, Hilary Marsh and Veronica Kelly. 2nd Lady, Ann Patterson, 1st Gent, Maureen Gallagher, 2nd Gent, John Timlin, Lowest Score, Pauline Connor and Longest sitting, Pat Walshe. Raffle winners were Mary Ryan, Hillary Marsh and Phil Crean. Whist drive is held every Thursday evening at 8.30pm in the Social Services Centre, Chapel Street.
