Congratulations to Peter Gill who has been working in the Environment section of Mayo Co Council and who has secured a similar appointment with Sligo Co Council.
Our best wishes go to Peter on his new appointment, with sincere thanks for all his assistance over the last few years.
Set Dancing
Set dancing takes place in Hiney's Upper Deck every Tuesday night at 9pm with Mildred Byrne.
Thank You
The Crossmolina Cemetery committee thanks everyone who took part in the general clean up of the cemetery on Saturday, May 12 last. Your contribution was much appreciated. The clean up has paved the way for further work, which we hope will now begin. A bin is in place and 'no dumping' signs will be erected. Our next meeting will be held in the Social Services Centre on Wednesday, April 23 at 8.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
'Pride of Place'
Kieran Loftus reported that Mayo Co Council have suggested that Crossmolina would be a very suitable town to enter this competition, because of the high level of co-operation among community groups. Crossmolina is one of three Mayo towns nominated for entry in one category with Ballyhaunis and Knockmore.
The National competition takes place between mid- June to the end of July. County Council are encouraging groups to work closer together. Foroige, Heritage Centre, Tidy Towns and Walks, Church and Graveyard improvements and Townland Signage.
Sympathy
Motions of sympathy were passed to the family of Michael Walsh and to the family of Paddy Hillary, former President of Ireland who died last week.
Kilmurry Cards
Results of the game held on April 10 were Best of 20, Breege Kelly and Maureen Mulligan, Breege McNamara and Bridie Cawley, Pat Gillespie and Michael Maughan, Mike Joe Kenny and Tom Brogan, Seamie Gallagher and Johnnie Orme.
Raffle winners were Paddy Gilger, Pat Gillespie and Ronan Callaghan. Hamper winners were Willie Garrett and Teresa Traynor, Johnnie Orme and Maureen Mulligan.
Lotto
There was no winner of the Crossmolina GAA club lotto jackpot held on Saturday night, April 12 last. The numbers drawn were 22, 26, 27 and 30.
No punter matched three numbers either and six tickets were drawn from the drum. Ellen Rowland, Castlehill, Ballina, Sheila Barrett, Mullenmore Street, Crossmolina, Ronan Reilly, Church Street, Crossmolina, Martin Irwin, c/o Moffatts Bar, Chapel Street, Crossmolina, Peadar Gardiner, Church Street, Crossmolina, Eamon Connor, Veterinary Clinic, Chapel Street, Crossmolina each win €25.
The draw took place in Christy's Bar, Church Street. This week's jackpot is €3350 and many thanks for your continued support.
Prizewinners
Congratulations to Eskeragh NS, Bellacorrick students Sean and Chloe Moyles, Fernmoyle who were second and third respectively in the INTO/EBS handwriting competition. The presentation took place in Day's Hotel, Castlebar. Their teacher is Ms. Hegarty.

Blood Bank
The Irish Blood Transfusion service thank all who attended their recent clinic in Crossmolina. 109 units of blood were donated and special thanks to all who helped in any way.
Joseph O'Malley RIP
The death occurred on Wednesday, April 16 at Mayo General Hospital of Joseph O'Malley, Castlehill, Ballina. His remains were removed on Friday evening from Hiney's Funeral Home to his residence with removal on Saturday morning to St. Patricks Church, Lahardane for Requiem Mass. Burial took place in Kilmurry Cemetery.
Joseph is survived by his wife Mary, son's Tiernan and David, daughters Laura and Mairead, brothers Michael and John, Gurteens, Ballina, Anthony, Ballyvicmaha, Castlehill, Paddy, Staffordshire, sister Mary Collooney, Sligo, daughters in law, son in law, sisters in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. May he rest in peace.
Died in England
The death occurred in Newcastle on Tyne on Friday, March 28 of Peter Brogan formerly of Pulladoohey, Crossmolina and burial took place in London. Peter was pre-deceased by his wife and is survived by his sister's May Lynn, Rathbane, Bridgie Moyles, Sligo, brothers Christie and Josie, England, nephews, nieces, extended family, relations and friends. May he rest in peace.

Bridge Results
The following are the results of the weekly Crossmolina Bridge club game 1st Nuala Doyle and Maureen Barrett, 2nd Rita Fox and Margaret Loftus, 3rd a tie, Mary Benson and Carmel Dunlea, Anna Tolan and Hilary Marsh. The game is on every Thursday night in Hiney's.
U14 League
Crossmolina U14 team got their Division 2 league campaign off to a winning start with a good five points over Kiltimagh in St. Tiernans Park on Thursday last. The sides were level at half time, three points to visitors from Sean Moran (2) and Gary Malee (1). A Crossmolina goal was scored by Gerard Haran with the aid of a stiff breeze.
The Deel Siders kicked seven points after the break, four for John Mulhern and three from Gerard Haran. Greg Regan and Zane replied with points each for the visitors to leave the final score 1-7 to 0-5. Graveyard Clean-up

Community Games' Swimming

25 Drive
A 25 drive in aid of Donna Munnelly, Helen Queenan and Laura McGarrigle travelling to Kenya with African Impact Volunteer Programme will be held in Kilmurry Community Centre on Thursday, April 24 at 9.30pm. 1st prize €300, 2nd €200, 3rd €150. Spot prizes on the night. Tickets cost €10.
