The autumn days are here again and the drop in temperatures in the evening is very noticeable. The salmon-fishing season comes to an end and the gardener prunes the last of the roses. The early frosts begin to strike. Foliage dies back, and we watch the forces of live concrete their energies not on display but on survival. The trees cast loose their flags of life and we watch the last of the swallows prepare to leave our shores, all signal of the change of season. Wasps go on a last great sugar spree until a cold spell wipes them out.
Recreational activities and evening classes are advertised for the longer nights approaching and nature takes a rest.
