The Late May Preston. 

The death occurred peacefully on Thursday 13th September at her residence of Mary (May) Preston nee Bryce Ballyscanlon Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Hineys Funeral home on Saturday evening. Requiem Mass on Sunday in St Tiernans Church with burial afterwards in Crossmolina cemetery. Mary was predeceased by her husband Jack is survived by her daughters Mary O Connor (Ballintubber), Angela Holland (Melbourne), Loretta Flynn (Killala), Teresa Sheehan (Craughwell), Bernie King (Castlebar), Helen Brogan (Glenamaddy) and son Thomas (Carrowkilleen), brothers Pat (Moygownagh) James and Martin (U.S.A.), sister, Sr Dominic (Castlebar), sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters –in – law, brothers – in – law, nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace.

 

Mayo Minor championship

Ardnaree emerged three point’s winners in this County Minor Championship tie at Sean Duffy Park on damp misty Friday evening. With the sides evenly matched the hosts lead at the break 1-7 to 1-5 A Keelan Hegarty goal after he got his fist to a Colm Hegarty 45 to bring his side right back into the games after Ardnree has held the upper hand in the opening quarter with Mark McDonald Peter Timlin the main threat. After the break Edward Gough dispatched the ball to the net from the penalty spot Keelan Hegarty and P.J.Gilmartin traded points before Dylan Keane and P.J Gilmartin raised a couple of white flags and it was those two player who dominated the Ardnaree scoring for the remainder of the half Crossmolina kept in touch with points from Edwaed Gough Colm Hegarty and Keelan Hegarty but Dylan Keane goal in the 56th minuet insured a Ardnaree victory by 2-14 to 2-11

The Late Mick Gillispie

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday 15th September at the St Josephs District Hospital Ballina of Mick Gillispie Erris St Crossmolina and Formerly of Fiddaun Keenagh. His remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral Home on Sunday evening with removal to St Tiernans Church. Requiem mass on Monday in the Church of the Holy Souls Keenagh with burial afterwards in Kilmurray Cemetery Mick was predeceased by his parents Edward and Ellen brother Edward is survived by his sister Bridgie Murray Shramore Newport, nephews Noel, Gerard and Eamon, nieces Rita and Breege, cousins, neighbours, extended family, many friends and work colleagues. May he rest in peace. 

 

Development Draw Winners.

Congratulation to Patrick and Claire Hopkins Eskeragh who won €5,000 in the Crossmolina Club Development draw in association with Mayo GAA also to Chris Myles Abbeytown and Paddy. Joe Sweeney Enaghbeg who each won €200

Crossmolina U15team had a comfortable win over Cill Chomain in a high scoring entertaining league tie in Glenamoy on Sunday week final score 10-13 to 6-7

NEW ACTIVE 55’s GROUP. 

Crossmolina GAA Club, Commencing Tuesday 25th September 12pm-1pm. Excerises and Activities to suit men and women, you don’t have to be over 55 to enjoy these low impact classes. We will be adding in more fun and games activities, so you can really enjoy your group each week. Each week there is always a cuppa and a chat for everyone after class. Connacht Pioneer Mini Vigil will take place in the Apperition Church Knock on Friday night 28th September 2018 @ 8.30pm to 12 mid night. All are welcome

Mayo Stroke Support Group will hold its next meeting on Thursday 27th Sept. 2018 from 11.30am-1.00pm in the Newman Institute (Cathedral Grounds), Ballina. Topic: ‘Effective Communication with your Family and Healthcare Providers’ This information session is for anyone who has experienced stroke, and their spouses/partners, wider family members, carers.
