The Late Margaret McTague.
The death occurred peacefully on Monday 25th February of Margaret McTague nee Beirne Lecarrow Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Hiney’s Funeral home on Tuesday evening with removal to the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, Eskeragh. Requiem Mass on Wednesday Burial afterwards in Drumlion Cemetery Carrick – on – Shannon. Margaret was predeceased by her husband Hughie is survived by her sons Martin and Seán, daughter Mary, son – in – law Evan, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace.

Festival of Lights.
Brochures for the Festival of Lights will be available in local outlets later this week and all details on the festival Facebook page also. The Light Parade takes place at 7:30pm on March 17th with a special fire & light display preceding this year’s parade. Thank you to all that have entered the parade, if you still want to enter please call 087 1871552 before March 10th. There will be a new event this year, the “Floating Candles Of Remembrance” which will take place on Sat. March 16th after vigil mass, a procession of floating lights on the River Deel in remembrance of those that that have died from our community. If you would like the name(s) of your dearly departed to be remembered during the ceremony, please put their name(s) into the boxes provided in Londis, Centra, Gala and all Parish Churches. All donations included will be given to St. Tiernan’s Cemetery. Boxes will be available from Thursday next.
Nephin Festival.
As plans progress for this Summer’s Nephin Festival the committee are looking for ideas for events that will cater for the senior members of the community as some of the regular events from past festivals will not be included this year. There are forms available in the Post Office and we ask that people take a form, fill it out with ideas on events they would like included this year and return to the Post Office before March 25th.

Tracing your family history
This course is designed for those who wish to begin researching their family history and genealogy. Using online research tools, you will learn how to locate vital records, e.g. census records, birth, marriage and death records, church records, land & occupational records and much more. Each participant will have a family tree of the information they have found by the end of the course. Basic knowledge of computers would be an advantage. The 2019 Festival Of Lights takes places from March. 15th – 17th with Ireland’s original “St. Patrick’s Light Parade” on March 17th at 7:30pm. Safe Talk teaches participants to recognize and engage persons who might be having thoughts of suicide and to connect them with community resources trained in suicide intervention. Safe TALK stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide. Well done to Rachel Kearns on a fine Display in the Ladys National League tie against Dublin in Croke Park last week. Rachel scored two goals in the first half. The Dubs edged out a very gallant Mayo side by two points 1-17 to 3-9
