Mayo V Tipperary

This historic pairing one Hundred years after their counter at the semi-final stage in 1920 semi final which was not played until on May 7 1922 at Croke Park when Tipperary emerged winners by 1 – 5 to 1 – 0 Tipperary went on to defeat Dublin the final after they had overcome Cavan 3 – 6 to 1 – 3 in the other semi-final at Navan. At the start of the year not many thought their would be any football with Covid 19 and all the uncertainty with lockdown no spectators allowed into games and what a championship we have had brilliant well contested games surprises. Next Sunday Mayo will journey to Croke park to all-Ireland Semi-final like no other, no spectators but with the same goal in mind. With both teams playing the same style of football this can be a classic. We wish the local Deel-Rovers lads Conor Loftus, Jordan Flynn and Ciaran McDonald the best of good luck and all associated with team you have done us proud.

Advent Calendar

The first day of Advent heralds the beginning of the Catholic Church’s New Year.  Advent (from ‘ad-venire’ in Latin or “to come to”) is the Church season encompassing the four Sundays and weekdays leading up to the celebration of Christmas. Advent is a time of spiritual preparation for the Lord’s coming at Christmas. We are delighted to be bringing you our online interactive Advent Calendar again this year.  It will go live on the First Sunday of Advent on 29 November2020.Log on to: www.catholicbishops.ie/adventcalendar Now in its seventh year, the online Advent Calendar is offering resources for the parish, school and the home which are available behind a virtual door each day during the Season of Advent.  Behind each door there will be content aimed at assisting people to pray and to reflect on how best we can keep Christ at the centre of our Christmas preparations during this special liturgical season. The theme of the Advent Calendar this year is Hope. We are inviting people to journey with us this Advent Season by Sharing Hope through acts of kindness and charity that all of us are encouraged to undertake during the month of  December.
