Knockmore had a comfortable 5 – 11 to 0 – 11 win over Crossmolina in the opening round of the Sweeney cup at Tiernans Park after leading by 2 – 5 to 0 – 5 with the goals two coming from Tom Clarke. Fionan Duffy replied with five points. Three goals in the last ten minuets from Peter Naughton and two from Alan Orme Fionan Duffy fired over another five points and Keith Hopkins added one to leave the visitors easy winners

The annual Church Gate Collection for Kilmurry Youths Soccer Club will take place on Saturday and Sunday next 10th and 11th March at Kilmurry, Keenagh, Crossmolina, Eskeragh, Lahardane, Moygownagh and Ardagh church gates.
Registration has now begun for Under 17 and Under 15 Boys and Under 14 and Under 12 Girls. Any parent whose child hasn’t been previously registered with the Club and wants their child to play in one of these age groups should contact the Secretary T.P. Loftus 087,2311081.
St. Patricks Festival of Lights.
Brochures listing all of the events in this year’s Festival of Lights will be available from tomorrow Tuesday in all of the local outlets and online at the Crossmolina festival Facebook page. This year’s Electric Light Parade on March 17th will have an array of different entries all illuminated in a dazzling light display. If you would like to enter in the parade please do so before this Friday March by calling 086 1930714 or 087 4113252.
The LIGHT the NIGHT 5K Run takes place on March 16th, details can be got from Barry on 086 8638531. Revenge For Gortnor Abbey Girls.
Congratulation to Gortnor Abbey Basketball team who had a six points 28 to 22 points win over St Colmcilles Knocklyon in the all Ireland U16 C League final at the National arena in Tallagh on Monday last. This was sweet revenges for Gortnor Abbey girls after their cup defeat in January against their Dublin opponents. The Team came home on Monday night to a great reception with Bonfires along the road and a huge crowd of students, family, staff and supporters to greet them
