McHale/ Rovers got the perfect start in this County Intermediate Lady’s County Semi-Final with a goal from Sinead Walsh after three minutes at a wet and windy Bofeenaun on Sunday week Niamh Lynn tacked on a point. Deirdre McNally who was creating trouble for the hosts defence kicking over Four points to tie the score after twelve minuets and minuets later Tara Needham booted to the net Sinead Walsh reduced the lead with a point after eighteen minuets as condition deteriorated scores were hard to come by with defences well on top their was only one more point in the remaining minuets from live wire wing forward Tara Needham on the stroke of half time to leave the half time score 1-5 to 1 – 2. Minuets into the new half McHale/Rovers went on the attack and with stout defending and the Aid of the Crossbar and post Louisburgh broke out of defence and Emma Needham struck for a game changing goal Deirdre McNally extended the lead with a point before Eilish Keane gave the hosts a life line with a goal in the twelfth minuet. Niamh Lynn struck over three points to reduce the lead to the minimum the greater experience strength and scoring power in the last ten minuets saw the west Mayo girls tack on three points from Deirdre McNally Emma Needham and Ciara Needham to secure their place in the final after a very entertaining contest despite the conditions.
