U14 League 

Crossmolina were comfortable winners over Ballintubber in the County U14 League Division 2A at Tiernans Park. The game played in ideal condition on a dull evening which Crossmolina dominated from first whistle to last final score 8 – 18 to 3 – 6 Crossmolina team and scorers were John Sharkey Jack Loftus Dara Deane Eoin O’Boyle Danny McDonald Dara Syron Matthew Gordetskyy Eoin Murphy 4 – 6 Niall Maughan 2 – 1 Declan Tolan James Maheady 0 – 2 Diarmuid Fox 0 – 3 Diarmuid Coggins Ronan Loftus 0 – 5 Jack Naughton 1 – 1 subs Marcus Maughan 1 – 0   Kyle Gallagher, Kai Howley Michael Maloney 

 

 St Tiernans College

Congratulation to St Tiernans College on celebrating their 60 years Anniversary on Saturday Week. What a wonderful occasion for all past and present pupils and staff who gathered to reminisce and some meeting up for the first time in many years. A occasion which was a credit to all the staff who organised and greeted every body     

 

 

Lotto Results.

There was no winner of the Crossmolina Deel-Rovers GAA Club Lotto Jackpot on Saturday night 14th April. The numbers were 11 – 14 – 17 – 20 four punters matched three numbers Fiona Canavan Abbeyview Crossmolina, Aidan O’Malley Keenagh Ballina Tommy Hurst Ballina Rd Crossmolina, Chloe Canavan Abbeyview Crossmolina they share the €150 prize, The Draw took place in O’Malleys Bar and Grill. This week’s jackpot is €8,550. Many thanks for all your support

 

Kilmurray 25 Drive Results

The following are the results of the Weekly Kilmurray 25 card drive on Thursday 12th April in the Community Centre. Best of 20 games. 1st Vincent O’Boyle and Eugene Granaghan, 2nd a tie Martin Garrett and Jimmy Caden, Brendan Moore and Frank McDonnell, 3rd Shamie Gallagher and Kevin Murphy. Yoga Session

The Crossmolina Day Centre continues to run its Yoga’s sessions every Wednesday from 12 pm – 1.00 pm upstairs in the town hall. The feedback is very positive. U16 League 

Cill Chomain who played against a very strong breeze were quickly stride with David Walker their scorer in chief with 1 – 2 Jonathan Murtagh scoring a goal for the visitors. Sean Irwin, Seamus Mason and Mark Tighe were driving their team on with points Diarmuid Walsh grabbed his sides second goal and Diarmuid Coggins added a point to leave the half time score 1 – 7 to 2 – 1 David Walker Sean Irwin Niall Ruddy Adam all tacked on a string of points when they realised that John Tolan in the Crossmolina goal was on top form saving certain goals on a number of occasions. Diarmuid Coggins beat a couple of defenders before raising a green flag and Diarmuid Walsh pointed to leave Cill Chomain comfortable winners by 1 – 15 to       3 – 2  Crossmolina team and scorers were. Wedding Bells

Congratulation to Donna Keating Abbeytown Crossmolina and Martin Cannon Killawalla Westport who married in Killawalla Church with reception in Knockgranny House Hotel Westport. They are wished many years of good Health and Happiness from their many friends

 

National School Table Quiz

The Crossmolina National School Parents Association Pub Quiz with a Twist is back on May 4th. Registration takes place in the Thatch Bar at 8.30 followed by Quiz trail to the various pubs with the Final Round in Maughans Bar. 

Great prizes to be won. Music afterwards so come along and kick start your Bank Holiday Weekend. 

 

Spring Clean

April is National Spring Clean month. There is a lot of unsightly litter on all the approach roads to Crossmolina. Could a few residents on each road get together and organise a litter pick. We have some litter pickers and Hi-Vis vests available. A nominated coordinator can contact 087 909 9689 or 087 218 6560 for equipment and further information

 

Recent Deaths

Sympathy is extended to the family’s of the following who died recently. Kate McKenna nee Kelly Knockfree mother of Mary Dolan, Kathleen Gough nee Gallagher Fairfield, Vincent Gilvarry Corcoran Terrace Ballina and formerly of Ballymachola. May they rest in peace

“Moving your Mind ” 

Mayo GAA and Mayo Mental Health Association – Health & Wellbeing Event

Crossmolina Deelrovers are delighted to host this event which is developed to show how exercise and good nutrition can promote positive mental health and wellbeing within rural communities. Speakers include – Andy Moran (Exercise and its importance to the individual), Caroline Brosnihan (Importance of Nutrition for a Healthy body and a Healthy mind) and Neil Douglas (Impact Yoga and Stretching can have on all generations) This is a community event and everyone is welcome! Venue: Crossmolina Deel-Rovers Clubrooms. Date: Tuesday May 1st Time: 7.30pm sharp

 

Date For Your Diary

Killocraun 120 Years a day of celebration, nostalgia and fun is planned for Sat 30th June in Killocraun NS to mark 120 years of our school. There will be opportunities on the day to meet with past teachers and pupils as well as to browse old roll books, text books and photos. We look forward to meeting our past pupils, neighbours and friends for a trip down memory lane. 

As part of this celebration a new publication is planned. We would love to hear from those who would like to share a memory, photo(s), and / or write an article or poem for inclusion in this publication. County Football League

Ballina secures the points in this County Division 4 league tie at Tiernan’s Park on Saturday of last week  The visitors lead at half time thanks to a goal in the opening minuets from Conor Boyce by two points 1 – 4 to 0 – 5 after the break Crossmolina took over and rattled over four points from Gerard Haran Kevin Keane J.P.Mulhern and Keith Hopkins but that was the last score after 15 minuets Ballina’s Aidan Kelly Brendan O’Hora Gerry Farrell and Conor Boyce were amongst the scorers of seven unanswered points to run out 1 – 11 to 0 – 9 deserving winners

Bingo in Day Centre

Its Bingo time again in the Crossmolina Day centre on Wednesday 25th April from 2pm – 4pm in the Social Services. Come along and join in the fun. Small cash prizes to be won.

 

Festival News 

The Singing Pubs returns for the 3rd and final year starting on April 21st in The Thatch. This year it is open to solo singers or duets, entry is free, if you are interested in taking part please call 087 2225256 or contact and of the participating pubs. Thank you to everyone that supported the recent Duck Race. This summer’s festival will have a Family Homecoming theme so if you have any family or friends living abroad or elsewhere in Ireland, pass on the word that Crossmolina is the place to be from July 18th – 22nd. The 2018 festival brochure will be packed with family themed events and plans are for an extended publication so if there is any community group etc planning any event during July or August please call 087 4113252 so that your event can be included in the brochure

 

County Minor League 

Crossmolina were leading this Division 3A league tie in Tom Langan Park on Friday of last week at the half time with points from Edward Gough  Keelan Hegarty and Conor Caden in between those scores James Gill grabbed a goal Michael Tighe  Ciaran McDonnell Shane Grier and Ben Stowe all pointer for Naomh Padraig with Liam Óg Barrett scoring his sides goal to leave the half time score 1 – 6 to 1 – 7 Daniel Howley and Ben Stowe traded points before a Conor Thomas goal and four points from Ciaran McDonnell and one each from Ben Stowe Craig McCormack gave the Sea-Siders a commanding lead going into the last ten minuets when Crossmolina clawed their way back with two points from Edward Gough and a goal from a penalty by Keelan Hegarty to leave the final score 2 – 13 to 2 – 9

Outdoor training for Kilmurry Youths Soccer will commence on Saturday next 28th April. The following are the times for the various age groups; 10 am to 11 am – Boys born 2011 or 2012 and Girls born 2010, 2011 or 2012 11 am to 12 pm – Boys born 2009 or 2010 and Girls born 2006, 2007, 2008 or 2009, 12 pm to 1pm – Boys born 2007 or 2008, 1pm to 2pm – Boys born 2004, 2005 and 2006, 5 pm to 6 pm – Boys born 2002 or 2003
