Crossmolina advanced to the Homeland U16 League Division 1 final with a comfortable win over Ballinrobe at Tiernans Park on Thursday last. Two first half goals from Kobe McDonald and Josh Moyles gave the hosts a comfortable 2 – 7 to 0 – 2 Lead at the break, Aaron Crowley and Caelon Tansey were the Ballinrobe scorers. Crossmolina continued where they left off with Points from Joey Keane, Luke Maloney, Oisin Deane and a brace of goals from Kobe McDonald, Rory O’Connell raised a green flag for the South Mayo side, but it was as good as it got for Ballinrobe boys Caelon Tansey and Rory Gilrane tacked on two points each to give the score board a more respectable look at the end, with both sides playing a fast open game with good scores and great fetching without the mark. Erris St Pats were the dominate side for three quarters of this Division 4 Homelands final in Tom Langan Ballycastle on Monday of last week, with Aaron Garrett and James Maheady getting on the score sheet early on for the Deel-Siders. It was Rory Conway and Ben O’Donoghue raising white flags and Luke McManamon scoring the goal to give their side 1 – 5 to 0 – 3 lead at the break a string of points from James Maheady, Oisin Deane, Kobe McDonald and Aaron Coggins tied the score before Darragh Gallagher gave his side a life line with a goal midway through the half. Crossmolina finished the stronger side with further points from Oisin Deane and Kobe McDonald and in injury time Luke Maloney scored a cracking goal for the insurance score after a game in which the Erris boys gave a great account of themselves despite the lack of numbers.
