McHale/Rovers 3 – 5 Kiltmagh 2 – 6
This was a cracking county 16 Lady’s B Final at Tiernans Park on Wednesday evening last played in ideal conditions humid and not a puff of a breeze. McHale/Rovers had much the better of the early exchanges but the visitors defence stood firm Sinead Walsh and Megan Sheridan grabbed points but when Kiltmagh gained the upper hand Lucy Brennan pounced for a goal and a point Caoimhe O’Malley grabbed the first of her three goals again Lucy Brennan raised the green flag to score her second goal Cara Hession tacked on a point. Sinead Walsh and Sarah Ruane exchanged points before the half time to leave the score 2 – 3 to 1 – 3. Sinead Walsh pointed for McHale/Rovers and Cara Hession kept the East Mayo girls score board ticking over with two points before Caoimhe O’Malley pounced for her second goal to leave her side trailing by a point 2 – 5 to 2 – 4 at the water break. Lucy Brennan extended the lead with a point and with both defences guarding their goals scores were hard to come by Kiltmagh came searching for the insurance score but they found the McHale/Rovers defence in uncompromising mood with several shots blocked this was the injection of energy which pushed them forward in search of the winning score and who better than Caoimhe O’Malley to on the end of a well worked move to waltz past a couple of defenders to score the winning goal to give her side the lead and to complete her hat-trick in the 56th minute. Team Captain Kelly Wilson scored a wonderful point from an cute angle to seal a very hard earned victory which could have gone either way the sides were so evenly matched
