Festival of Lights
The festival of lights committee would like to thank everyone that contributed to making the festival a huge success, to all that participated in the 5K run and the light parade, all of the stewards, to the businesses that assisted the promotion of the festival, to the groups that organised different events and to everyone that turned out at the events over the weekend. The light parade will be televised in the coming weeks, a date has yet to be confirmed, keep up to date by following the festival on Facebook.

Crossmolina were unlucky to loose out by two points to The Quay NS in the Ballina Area Mini 7s National School Football final on Tuesday last in Sean Duffy Park Ardnaree. Leading by 2 – 1 to 1 – 1 with two goals from Dylan Flynn and a point from Kobe McDonald. The Quay scorers were Peter Barrett a point and the goal from Tiernan Tighe. The Quay School were quickly on level terms after the break with another Tiernan Tighe Goal the same player tacked on a point Kobe McDonald minuets later added two point before Padraic Gavin Gave his side a two points advantage with goal Oisin Deane reduced the lead with a point. In the next attack Oisin Struck the butt of the post and another effort was scrambles off the line. The Quay held on to win by two points 3 – 3 to 2 – 4 in a very exciting game played in ideal weather. Yoga Class in Day Centre
The Crossmolina Day Centre will run a 10 week YOGA class beginning with a taster session on Wednesday 28th March from 12m/d – 1.00pm in the Social Services Centre. Festival News
The 12th annual Duck Race takes place next Sunday, April 1st, after 11:30am mass. Ducks are available to buy in local outlets with 1st prize a large exclusive Easter egg and lots of regular Easter eggs for the runner up ducks. The Summer Community festival will have “Homecoming” as it’s theme so if you have family or friends living elsewhere in Ireland or abroad, let them know that Crossmolina will be the place to be, July 18th – 22nd, with lots of family themed events planned.
Cathal Win’s Connacht Title
Congratulation Cathal Davis Ardagh/Crossmolina Boxing club who scored a fantastic win in Castlerea this weekend to become Connacht Champion at 41.5kg over Swinfords Noel Gallagher on a unanimous decision. Cathal will now go to box for his Irish title in the National Stadium on Easter week

The death took place recently of Ellie Tyrell (nee Callaghan), London, formerly of Knockbrack, Crossmolina. Burial Took place on Thursday, 22 March, 2018 after her requiem mass at the Church of Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury, Harrow-on- the-Hill, Middlesex. London. Ellie was predeceased by her husband, Richard and is survived by her daughters, Patricia and Deirdre, her son, Richard, her daughter in law, sons in law, nieces and nephews, and her sisters, Elizabeth Moran, Kilkelly and Veronica McDonnell Kinard, Crossmolina. May she rest in Peace

Kilmurry Soccer Camp
The Fai Soccer Sisters camp will be held on the 5th and 6th of April in Kilmurry.The Camp is for Girls from 6 to 14 years of age. The cost of the camp is 30 euro if booked before April the 1st. Late booking of 5 euro is added after this date.

Ballina edged out Crossmolina in a exciting North Mayo Sweeney Cup tie at James Stephens Park on St Patricks Day by two points. The Stephenites dominated the opening quarter when assisted by the breeze racing into a seven point’s advantage thanks to a string of points from Kevin Newell Simon Leonard and Keith Tighe. Fionan Duffy replied with a point before Kevin Mulhern and Mickie Loftus grabbed goals each and Cathal Carolan pointed to leave just a point separating the sides at the break 0 – 9 to 2 – 2 The second half Crossmolina took command in the opening quarter and raced into a four points lead thanks to points Fionan Duffy. Died in Swinford
The death occurred peacefully on Sunday 18th March at St. Attractas Nursing Home Charlestown of Elizabeth Lylia McGuinness nee Bourke, Culmore, Swinford formerly of Corvokeen, Crossmolina. Her remains reposed at Campbells Funeral Home Swinford on Monday evening with removal to her Daughter Margaret’s residence in Culmore. Requiem mass on Tuesday in the Church of our Lady Help of Christians Swinford with burial afterwards in Crossmolina Cemetery. Elizabeth was predeceased by her Husband Patrick and son John is survived by her son P.J London, daughters Mary Corcoran Ballina, Margaret Devaney Culmore Swinford and Angela McGuinness Howley Castlebar. Sons- in- law, Daughters-in-law, Nephews, Nieces Grandchildren Great-Grandchildren, Family Circle, friends and neighbours. May she rest in peace.
