The Festival of Lights 2017 has been shortlisted for the All Ireland Community and Council Awards with the winners been announced at the gala awards ceremony in Croke Park on this Saturday Feb. 2nd. The festival is a finalist in the Arts/Culture category with chairpersons John Cooney & Seamus Jordan shortlisted in the Community Volunteer of the Year category

Jesus and Mary Gortnor Abbey suffered a heart breaking eleven Points defeat 46 pts to 35 in the U16C Girls final against St Colmcilles Community School Knocklyon Dublin in the National Basketball Arena on Tuesday of last week. The team did their School Parents, Teachers and Coaches Liam McHale and Katrina Lavelle proud and are back again this week in the league Semi-finals.
