U13 Girls Final
McHale/Rovers and Swinford/Killasser went toe to toe in this county U13 Girls Division 3 League Final played at Swinford Amenity Park which was deemed fit to play on Saturday week after St Tiernans Park was unplayable after night and morning of heavy rain. The game exciting from start to finish. McHale/Rover had the better of the play in the opening seven minuets with two points from Kayla Doherty and should have a couple of more points on the board with poor shot selection a coupe of wides denying them further scores. Swinford/Killasser when they gained the upper hand grabbed two goals from corner forward Rhona Brennan and a point Lucy Loftus Kayla Doherty reduced the lead with two points Meave Cosgrove tacked on further two points for the North Mayo girls back came the host with two points from Lucy Loftus before Kayla Doherty reduced the lead with another point to leave the half time score 2-3 to 0-7 at the break. With the damp conditions the defences were making life difficult for the forwards find their target. Lucy Loftus extended the lead with two points before Kayla Doherty raced past a couple of defenders and drilled the ball to the net and same player quickly added a point to tie the score back came Swinford/Killasser with Riona Foote point for the lead in a welter of excitement McHale/Rovers top scorer Kayla Doherty gave her side a two points lead replicating what she did ten minuets earlier crashing the ball to the net entering the final minuets. Swinford/Killasser swarmed down the field had a couple of shots cleared away before Lucy Loftus Drove the ball to the net past a helpless Charlie Louise Reilly Benson for a dramatic winning score which left McHale/Rovers devastated after been so close snatching the title. Kayla Doherty was adjudged the player of the match for the North Mayo girls after giving an outstanding display scoring 2-6 of her sides total. Final score Swinford/Killasser 3 -6 McHale/Rovers 2-8
