The Community of Crossmolina has recently come together to help shape the future of our town. The ‘Vision 2025’ vision is to cultivate this community as a welcoming and attractive place to live and grow, to visit, and to ensure we protect our Heritage and Environment, and in the process sustain our economic prosperity. It is a long-term project plan for a better future for everyone, a benefit for future generations. To achieve this an opportunity has arisen to purchase a substantial field on the main Ballina approach road, adjacent to the GAA grounds. To secure the purchase and to subsequently develop it the community will require financial donations. Fields of this size within such a close proximity of Crossmolina Centre (only .5 kilometre) do not come along often! Once Crossmolina Community Council CLG are in possession of the land, we can then apply for grant aid for future projects. In the past, not owning such a valuable asset has prevented us from commencing projects which would have benefited our community. Future projects for the land will include but won’t be restricted to a second pitch for Crossmolina GAA, Assisted Housing, Elderly Day Care Centre, facility for the Crossmolina Agricultural Show, Camping/Glamping Sites, etc.
Once Crossmolina Community Council CLG are in possession of the land, we can then apply for grant aid for these projects.
Crossmolina Community Council CLG was officially established in 1994.The aim was to form a structured organisation to promote and develop a social and economically viable place for the people of the entire Crossmolina Parish area, which includes Crossmolina, Eskeragh, Keenagh and Kilmurry. Over the years the organisation has had its ups and downs, but it continues to survive the unavoidable economic turbulence that effects our country from time to time.
Crossmolina Community Council continues to access financial support by way of grants, awards and allowances. It has much experience in managing both big and small projects. It oversaw the building of four Industrial Units in 2010, all currently rented and occupied. This project was supported by Enterprise Ireland and Fiontar Chomhraic Teo together with a loan from Clan Credo, which has now been cleared. Crossmolina Community Council has worked closely with Mayo County Council on many projects including: The Caravan Bay at Lough Conn Pier, the street lighting of the Crossmolina Loop Walks and Smart Street Lighting with SEAI and SELC. Other projects include the crossmolina.ie Website, Nature Garden, Tidy Towns Plan, Signage, Automatic Gates at Gortnor Abbey and computers and IT equipment and most recently the Walking Trail on Nephin Mountain.
